(Biocomputing & Human Development: later development)

NOMINATED FOR AUSTIN CRITICS TABLE AWARDS 2013

DESIGN VISUALS CATEGORY

BioBits presents: 3D [Embodied], "InSurgery: unconscious to conscious internal biology".

Art:

Biocomputing model integrating biofeedback control: EMG (electromyography; more or less muscular contraction), Heart rate (performer's real-time heart beats), and fine motor skills (hand's manipulation control) input to control biovisuals/audio in a 3D immersive environment. In addition, the bioperformer integrated a video recording system placed on its head (see picture above), recording the bioperformer's visual field and motor actions.

The projected biovisuals represented the augmented human body biologic processes activated according with the bioperformer's real-time biologic input. For example, activating robotic cells and neurons motion and chemical processes, controlling an anatomical heart with real-time heart beats, manipulating new cellular fluids, blood pressure control, etc.  The bioperformer controlled the other dancers 3D immersive environment,  thus, creating a biologic visceral tangible environment for the other dancers placed inside a 3D box.

In the pictures above the bioperformer activates (placed motion) a visual robotic neuron object (projected object) and continuos sound output by exploring its left arm muscular contractions (more or less contraction)/hand's manipulation.

Science:

For this Bioperformance BioBits is studying: "Biofeedback control, Perceptual field, and Emotional levels in a cyborg organism during live Bioperformance".

This project was developed in collaboration with Theatre and Dance department/Music department, UT Austin College of Fine Arts. Bioperformance integrated in 3D [Embodied] performance, Roots and Wings, Payne Theatre, Texas Performing Arts. April, 19, 20, 21, 2013.
